PRESTON - Asa "Ace" William Beckstead, 94, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at the Heritage Home in Preston, Idaho. He was born on Jan. 2, 1916, in Preston, Idaho, to William Leon and Cora L. Maughan Beckstead. He married Elvina Burton on July 29, 1936, in the Logan LDS Temple. She preceded him in death in 1985. He married Donna Benson Thompson in the Mesa LDS Temple on March 22, 1986. Ace loved working and building. He was skilled at fixing and repairing just as he was at building. He loved to vacation with his family and made sure to go on an annual vacation. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings during his life. He and Elvina served a mission to the Tempe, Ariz., mission and he was also a temple worker in the Mesa Temple.He is survived by his wife Donna, of Mesa, Ariz.; his children Larry A. (Dorothy) Beckstead, of Preston, Idaho; Willis Leon (Julie) Beckstead, of Preston, Idaho; and Don B. (JoAnn) Beckstead, of Preston, Idaho; and a foster daughter Radele Baxter; 17 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Elvina, four siblings, and a granddaughter-in-law, Holly Schvaneveldt Beckstead.Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at noon at Webb Funeral Home's new location, 1005 S. 800 East, in Preston with Bishop Mark Beckstead conducting. A viewing will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
