ASTROLAVIO "ACE" HINOJOSA, JR. HOBART, IN Astrolavio "Ace" Hinojosa, Jr., age 91, of Hobart, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016. He was born on March 6, 1925 in Donna, TX to the late Astrolavio and Felicitas (nee Villareal) Hinojosa. Ace loved working as a steelworker for Inland Steel and retired in 1984 after 41 years. He was also employed at Strack and Van Til as a utility clerk for 23 years. In his free time, he enjoyed the casinos and played semi-professional baseball at one time in his life. He was an avid Cubs fan and was happy to finally see them win the World Series. He loved animals, but above all, he cherished his family and the time he spent with them. Ace is survived by his beloved wife, Charleene (nee Ward) Hinojosa; sons: Astrolavio Hinojosa, III, Robert (fiancée, Amber Alvarado) Hinojosa, Douglas (Jodi) Wentz, Sr., Todd (Jennifer) Wentz; daughters: Elaine Slavik, Sharon Hedges; grandchildren: Shawna Slavik, Nicole (Ron) Hurd, Robert Hinojosa, Jessica Hedges, Brandon Hedges, Alexis Wentz, Carson Wentz, Douglas Wentz, Jr., Felicia Wacasey, Jaden Wentz, Kloe Wentz; great grandchildren: Jordan Barraza, Emily and Olivia Hurd, Kylie Rose Hinojosa; dogs, Astro, DeDe, and Poncho "Frank". He was preceded in death by his brothers, Armando, Leo and Juan Hinojosa; sister, Anita Lopez. A funeral service for Ace will take place Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Lourdu Pasala officiating. He will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. Visitation will be held Friday, December 2, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
