Attila "Til" SuhajdaMaggie Valley - Attila "Til" Suhajda, 71, of Maggie Valley, NC died on April 28, 2017 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. His cause of death was lung cancer.Attila was born on March 1, 1946 in Peuerbach, Austria to Imre and Irene. He and Irene became refugees due to the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and eventually settled in Philadelphia. Soon after, Irene contracted tuberculosis. Attila lived for four years at St. Joseph's House for Homeless Industrious Boys. He emulated Elvis and later, mods. He graduated from Cardinal Dougherty in'64.Attila joined the Air Force in '65. He worked in electronics; played soccer, and was part of the 913 Civil Engineering Prime BEEF unit. He served in Vietnam and had a motorcycle and friends while stationed in Thailand. He left the Reserve in '87.Attila attended Burlington County College from '77 to '82. He received a bachelor's in electrical engineering. He worked at DuPont; then General Motors. He was a UAW member. He became a motelier in 2002 and worked up until a few days before his death.Attila was a quiet rocker who altered electronics and dabbled in expletives. He was an enigma who liked '57 Chevies, B-52s, sci-fi, "The Prophet", exploring, mechanics, sewing, Eastwood movies, laconic humor, and "Jeopardy". He was fearless, giving, and stubborn. He made mistakes- big and small. He never conformed.Please remember Attila when listening to "Who Are You", "Immigrant Song", "Space Oddity", or any AC/DC song.He is survived by his wife, Tina; his daughter, Amy Steele; his son-in-law, Francis Steele; his son, David; grandchildren Sophie and Ronni, his former wife, Rosemary Sommer; Aunt Katalin, several cousins, his nephew and nieces, his friend, Wayne Marin.
