Audrey Hinton Hayes November 1, 1921-November 16, 2016 Cary Audrey Hinton Hayes, 95 of Cary, NC passed away peacefully on November 16, 2016 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Terry Allen. She was born on November 1, 1921 in Clayton, NC, the daughter of the late Durwood and Lela Johnson Hinton. Audrey graduated from Clayton High School and was a member of the girls' 1937 championship basketball team. In 1947 Audrey married Roland Hayes and moved to Raleigh where they made their home. Mrs. Hayes was a charter member of Forest Hill Baptist Church in Raleigh, and was retired from the Soil Testing Division of the NC Department of Agriculture. Survivors include her daughter Beverly and her husband Terry; grandchildren, Jennifer Allen Rose and her husband David of Apex, Tyler Allen and his wife Amanda of Clayton; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Rose, Ryan Rose, Isabel Allen and Evelyn Allen and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by her Husband Roland Hayes, as well as brothers, Billy Hinton and James Hinton, and sister Nadine Hinton. Audrey had an unwavering faith in God and could be found every night before going to bed reading her bible. Although she battled many health problems over the past years, she faced each one with faith, courage and resilience. She was a woman of strength and determination. Nothing pleased her more than spending time with her family and seeing her great grandchildren gather around her. As long as her health permitted, she enjoyed playing Bridge. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 22 at 12:00 pm at Forest Hills Baptist Church in Raleigh with a visitation and a light reception after the service.
