Aurora I. Quintana passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016 in Lubbock, Texas. Aurora was born on April 15, 1943 to Lorenzo and Luisa Holguin in Socorro, Texas. On August 11, 1963, Aurora married the love of her life, Francisco Javier Quintana at La Purisima Catholic Church-Socorro Mission in Socorro, Texas. Aurora is survived by her loving husband, Francisco Javier Quintana; their children, Christopher Quintana and wife, Rebecca, and Karen Esquibel and husband, Jonathon; grandchildren, Kennedy Grace and Jack Christopher Esquibel; sister, Luisa Romero; aunts, Amelia Knight and Emirey Loweree; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; godsons, Adrian Montelongo, Omar Jacobo, Jacob Quintana, Franklin Munoz, Jr., and Adam Holguin. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Moisés, Adolfo, Benjamin, and Arturo Holguin. She was a devoted member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in El Paso, Texas and Christ the King Cathedral in Lubbock, Texas, and she served as a Eucharistic Minister and a Minister of the Word at several parishes. After a long career serving with several mayors and city councilors, Aurora retired from the City of El Paso. She was an active member of the
VFW (Post 10354) Auxiliary. She loved to sing in various choirs, actively pursued creative writing, and enjoyed travelling around the world with her husband, friends, and family. Family and friends will gather to recite the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm today, October 17, 2016 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in El Paso, Texas. A funeral mass to celebrate her life will be held at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
