(NOTE THE TWO DIFFERENT SPELLINGs FOR "Klopfenstine" and "Klopfenstein") KENDALLVILLE — Avon E. Klopfenstine, age 88, of Kendallville, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Presence Sacred Heart Home in Avilla. Mr. Klopfenstine was born on November 20, 1927 in Monroe, Indiana to the late Henry Klopfenstine and Phyllis O. Klopfenstine (Stocker). On November 3, 1979 Avon married Sally Feltner. Avon was in real estate, and was an auctioneer for over 15 years. He worked for Smokercraft in the woodshop for 5 years before retiring in 1990. From 1954 to 2013, Avon had his own farm, which he loved to work and tend to. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Kendallville and would lead the singing during church services. Avon enjoyed golfing, hunting and refinishing furniture. Survivors include: spouse, Sally Klopfenstine of Kendallville; son, Darrell and Dawn Klopfenstein of Wolcottville; daughter, Brenda and Jon Ballard of Daleville, Indiana; step-daughter, Geneva and Fred Stidham of Kendallville; step-son, James and Kathie Eversole of Avilla; grandson, Adam and Susie Klopfenstein of Kendallville; grandson, Trent and Kristin Klopfenstein of South Milford; granddaughter, Katie and Mick Leas of Warren, Indiana; grandson, Kyle and Lee-Anne Ballard of Daleville, Indiana; step-grandson, Samuel Stidham of Kendallville; step-granddaughter, Teresa and Henry Collins of Kendallville; step-grandson, Robert Woods of Avilla; step-grandson, Chuck Woods of Albion; step-grandson, Bryon Woods of Jeffersonville, Indiana; 25 great-grandchildren; brother, David and Iva Klopfenstein of Kendallville; and brother, Gerald and Irma Klopfenstein of Brimfield. Avon was also preceded in death by: his granddaughter, Beth Sexton; brother, Nathan Klopfenstein; and sisters, Aretha Klopfenstein and Deloris Rickord. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. at Hite Funeral Home, 403 South Main Street, Kendallville, Indiana 46755. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Hite Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Brushy Chapel Cemetery. Officiating the Funeral Services will be Pastor Steve Altman. Memorial Donations may be directed to Church of Christ in Kendallville.
