Our beloved Wife, Mother and Maw-Maw Barbara Jean Cox Pentz of Edgewater, FL passed away on March 22, 2024 at the age of 74 years old.
Barbara was born in Griffin, GA and grew up in New Smyrna Beach, FL. She graduated from Mainland High in 1967 and married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Tom Pentz. They were lovingly married for 55 years. She was his rock, his greatest cheerleader and was very supportive of his career. Barbara was called to be a mom and was blessed with three beautiful children. Amy (Michael), Kelly (Neil) and Wesley. Nothing meant more to Barbara than her family. Barbara always demonstrated her outstanding love for her family and friends, with encouraging words and kind actions. She was a sweet and gentle person who never met a stranger and would help anybody in need. She was a special person who found the best in people and overlooked their faults.
Barbara was very active in her church. She volunteered as a teachers' aide at her children's Christian school, she taught children's Sunday school, women's adult Sunday school as well as many small women's bible studies. Barbara loved sharing the Gospel with others.
Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter Amy, her father, Norman Haywood, her mother, Barbara Spradlin Cox, her sister Rose and her brothers Butch and Donnie Cox. She leaves behind seven adorning grandchildren: Janie, Seth, Owen, LynnMarie, Lockett, Lazer and Pace. Barbara was always there for her children and grandchildren, talking with them often, teaching them life lessons, being a role model and supporting them. They loved her Maw-Maw mix and her abundance of random food in her kitchen. We will miss her unbelievable physical presence here on earth.
Some fact-Barbara loved traveling, fishing, talking to everyone, telling her husband how to drive, scratch off tickets and slot machines.
Barbara's service will be held at First NSB Church on Tuesday April 2nd, 2024, with the viewing starting at 11 AM, service at noon and graveside service at Sea Pines Memorial Garden following the service at at 1:30.
