Barbara B. Polasik AGE: 87 • Towson, MDBarbara B. Polasik of Towson, MD, formerly of Dunkirk and Eden, NY and Morristown, NJ, passed away on February 2, 2017 from pancreatic cancer. She was 87.Barbara was born on October 5, 1929 in Dunkirk, NY, the only child of the late Alphonse and Genevieve (Niedzwieski) Buczkowski. She was a proud alumna of SUNY Fredonia (Class of 1951), and had a career as an elementary school
teacher. She was a long-time substitute teacher for the Morris County (NJ) and Eden (NY) public school systems, and a catechist for Assumption Church in Morristown and Immaculate Conception Church in Eden. She was a current member of Immaculate Conception Church in Towson, where she was a lector. She found great honor in being a Eucharistic Minister. Together with her husband, Barbara enjoyed traveling the United States and Europe. New York City was a favorite destination for theater, museums, and dining. She was a 4-H and Girl Scout leader; an expert at sewing and knitting; and a member of the St. Vincent dePaul Society, Senior Box Office, and the Eden Up to Date Club. Barbara was renowned for her hospitality and her talent as an expert hostess (her dinner parties are fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to attend).Barbara is survived by her six daughters and one son: Anne (Gary) Watson of Conway, SC; Jane (Gary) Panse of Juno, FL; Ruth (Harry) Mazujian of Flemington, NJ; John (Karen) Polasik of Parkville, MD; Mary (DeWayne) McMullin of La Cañada, CA; Kate (Jeff) Hagen of Towson, MD; and Afsaneh Ziaee Saleh (the late Shahriar) of Gaithersburg, MD; 20 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved and devoted husband of 49 years, Richard D. Polasik, and a daughter, Grace.A Memorial Mass will be said at Immaculate Conception Church (200 Ware Ave, Towson) on Friday, February 10th at 10:00am. The family will receive visitors at the church at 9:30am before the service. Burial will be at Arlington Cemetery beside her husband, at a later date.
