Praxel, Barbara E.Barbara E. Praxel, 83, died on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church, Marshfield, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 am on Monday until service time. Rev. Gisele Berninghaus will officiate. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Barbara was born on December 6, 1933 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Theodore E. and Helen H. (Hoffman) Doering and was a 1952 graduate of Bay View High School. She was united in marriage to Robert F. Praxel on June 28, 1952 at Unity Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. He died on October 3, 1998. Barbara had been employed at Bell Telephone, Universal Telephone and Boelters Restaurant Supply, all in Milwaukee, until her retirement in June 1997. She moved to Marshfield in May 2004. Barb was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Marshfield and the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed reading and books and served on the Board of Directors for the Marshfield Public Library. She enjoyed traveling and spending time in Arizona with her sister. She also enjoyed visiting Pioneer Lake in Northern Wisconsin. She was a loving grandmother and cherished the time she spent with her grandson, Alex. Barbara is survived by her sons, Theodore (Kathy) Praxel, MD of Marshfield and Jeffery Praxel of Milwaukee and her grandson, Alex Praxel of Marshfield. She is also survived by her sisters, Diane Cardenas of Phoenix and Helen Doering of Milwaukee. She is further survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Fred (Bobbie) Praxel and Pat (Earl) Ewert and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters-in-law, Shirley (Joe) Quinlan, Lois (Boone) Hiser and Dorothy Sherman. The family wishes to thank the staff of Stoney River Assisted Living, dear friends, Pat and Pam, Dr. Matthew Jansen and Dr. Michael Claessens for the loving care that was given to Barbara.
