Barbara Huntington Braun passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013 in Kingwood, Texas. She was born on May 9, 1930 in Newark, New Jersey to her late parents, Robert Graham Huntington and Alice Booth Huntington. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert (Bob) W. Braun; sons Douglas and wife Stephanie, Donald and wife Lori of Kingwood, TX, Bob and wife Tami of Flower Mound, TX, daughter Barbara Dickson and husband Paul of Kingwood, TX. Grandchildren Elizabeth Curry and husband Spencer, Jeffrey Braun, Tom Guth, David and Madison Braun, Annie Carbajal, Katie Bostic, Zach and Seth Patterson. She is also survived by her brother, Robert G. Huntington Jr. and wife Shirley and five nieces. Barbara graduated from Columbia High School in Maplewood, N.J. and had a long career in banking, retiring from Texas Commerce Bank Kingwood (JP Morgan Chase) in 1988. She was a member of Kingwood United Methodist Church since 1976 and sang in the choir for over 30 years and was a volunteer receptionist there for 22 years. She was also a charter member of the Kingwood Chorale and served as the first treasurer of that organization. Barbara was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and past president of Post 73 in East Orange, N.J. She also volunteered at Northeast Medical Center Hospital in Humble, TX for many years.
A memorial service took place at Kingwood United Methodist Church, 1799 Woodland Hills Drive, Kingwood, Texas 77339, on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 4:00 p.m.
