Barbara Jean Rothenberger Beaver86, of Lafayette, formerly of Mulberry, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Franciscan East Hospital.Barbara was a lifelong resident of Mulberry until recently moving to Rosewalk Commons in Lafayette. She was born on July 5, 1930 on the family farm north of Mulberry to her parents, Ralph and Garnett (Wehr) Rothenberger. Barbara graduated from Mulberry High School in 1948 and throughout the years, kept in touch with many of her classmates and enjoyed attending class reunions.On December 6, 1948, Barbara wed her high school sweetheart, Clyde Beaver Jr. Together, they raised three children - David Allen Beaver, who passed away in 1986, Deborah Ann (Scott) Anderson, of Safety Harbor, FL, and Lori Joan (Rich) Walker, of Springfield, IL.Barbara was actively involved in her children's activities while they were growing up - Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Clinton Prairie Band Boosters and P.T.A. She was also a charter member of the Mulberry Jr. Women's Club and a member of Eastern Star. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, watching the birds and squirrels in her backyard, Purdue sports, Colts football, talking to family by phone, and visiting with neighbors.In addition to her two daughters, Barbara leaves behind five grandchildren of which she was so proud, Craig (Jodi) Beaver, of Charlottesville, VA, Cheryl (Michael) Costa, of Dunedin, FL, Christy (Ryan) Franzman, of Fishers, Dougal Walker, of Madison, WI, and Daniel (Sangita) Walker, of Lafayette; honorary grandson, Nathan Cummings, of Lafayette; and four great-grandchildren, Robert Costa, and Hannah, Joseph, and William Beaver. Also surviving are a sister, Carol Joan Rothenberger, of Largo, FL; sister-in-law, Margaret Beaver, of Mulberry; former daughter-in-law, Laura (Jeff) Cummings, of Nineveh; and several nieces and nephews.It was Barbara's wish to be cremated. Her remains will be interned beside her husband at Fair Haven Cemetery. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
