KINSTON - Barbara Katherine Hardison Gates, 69, of Kinston, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2010. She was born on December, 6, 1940 to the late Walter and Julia Evelyn Hardison and she is also preceded in death by her husband Clifford William Gates. Mrs. Gates was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was a homemaker and member of Southwest Pentecostal F.W.B Church. She was loved by all and will be missed by many. Survivors include her daughter Teresa Gale Coombs and husband Timothy of Kinston, and her son; Clifford William "little Bill'' Gates Jr. of Seven Springs ; three grandchildren, Heather G. Hildebrand and husband David, Josh Gates, Aaron Coombs; one great-grandchild Madison Hildebrand ; brother Vernon Hardison and a special friend Deborah Jo Gates. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC, 27834. The family would like to especially thank United Hospice, the Doctors and Nurses at Lenoir Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion. Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. Visitation will follow the service.
