Laper, BarbaraBarbara Henninger Laper, age 96 of Markesan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the Barrett House in Markesan.Barbara, known to many friends as "Doddy", was born on April 5, 1920 in Markesan to John and Carrie (Christensen) Henninger. On August 6, 1943, she married Grant Laper at her parents' home. Grant and Doddy made their home on the Laper farm, which they enjoyed for many years. Later in life they resided at 435 S. Main St. in Markesan. Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who also enjoyed reading, gardening and playing Bridge. Mrs. Laper graduated from Milwaukee State Teacher's College in 1942. She taught in Sheboygan and Markesan District Schools for 25 years. She was a lifetime member of the Wisconsin Education Association and the Green Lake Area Retired Education Association. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Manchester.Doddy is survived by her two daughters, Susan (Eldon) Moldenhauer and Louise (Dave) Zabel, both of Markesan; grandsons, Dennis Moldenhauer of DeForest, Troy (Lori) Moldenhauer of Burlington and Jason (Lori) Zabel of Markesan; great-grandchildren, Kelly (Ray) Boknevitz, Devin and Heidi Moldenhauer, Tia, Joshua, Abigail, Jordan and Kyler Moldenhauer; two dear nieces, Lynne (Jerry) Baker and Robin (Paul) Anderson; niece, Cathay (Hank) Hankerson; nephews, Rich and Ron Henninger; other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her husband, Grant; her parents; her brother, Robert (Beulah) Henninger; her sister, Lois (William) Loebel and other relatives.A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, W3377 Main Street, Manchester from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Michael Plagenz will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Markesan Memorial Cemetery.If desired, memorial in Barbara's name may be directed to St. Paul's Lutheran Church of the Markesan Public Library, 75 N.
