Basilio Gonzales, 86, a longtime resident of Gonzales Ranch passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015.He was born on March 8, 1929 in Gonzales Ranch to Julian Gonzales and Ramona Lovato.A Catholic, he was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Villanueva.He was a park ranger for the New Mexico State Parks for nine years. Basilio enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a sharpshooter and enjoyed being in the outdoors, was very devoted to his church and he was known to always help out anyone in need.He was preceded in death by his parents: Julian and Ramona Gonzales; two brothers and five sisters.He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Agnes (Griego) Gonzales of Gonzales Ranch; daughters and sons: Lydia Bennett and husband, Edward, of Gonzales Ranch, Stella Gonzales and companion, Venson Hayes, of Clovis, Julian Gonzales and wife, Cindy, of Gonzales Ranch, Floyd Gonzales and wife, Cecelia, of Tucson, Ariz., Ramona Martinez and husband, Mario, of Clovis, Henrietta Gonzales and companion, Leroy Hernandez, of Gonzales Ranch, Jane Chavez and husband, Gary, of Clovis, Phillip Gonzales and companion, Jeanette Cummings, of Gonzales Ranch; oldest brother: Antonio Gonzales of Pueblo, Colo.; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; 32 Godchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.Rosary services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Monday) at San Isidro Church in Gonzales Ranch. Funeral services will be held following the rosary also at San Isidro Church with Father Terance Messer as celebrant. Interment will follow at San Isidro Cemetery in Gonzales Ranch with the following serving as casket bearers: Edward Bennett, Venson Hayes, Venson Hayes, Jr., Adam Gonzales, Orlando Patrick Lopez and Jasen Gonzales.
