Beatrice (Betty) Keenan, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 14, 2016 with her family by her side. She was born on December 30, 1924 in Burlington, VT. She was the daughter of the late Howard and Martha Brown. Betty was a sales clerk at Barney's Department Store. She also worked for many years as a nursing assistant at Kingsway Nursing Home. She enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles and playing games of chance. She also loved spending time with her family. She was predeceased in 1981 by her husband, Edward Nickel and in 2005 by her second husband, William Keenan. She was also predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Molly, Catherine, Howard, Martha, Patty, Anne, Thomas, and Tessie. Betty is survived by her daughters, Donna (Lenny) Connor and Martha (John) Burns; her grandchildren, Marybeth (Eric) Schadow, Edward (Kelly) Connor, Matthew Connor, Amy (Wayne) Hills, Sara Siddons; step-grandchildren, Tracy Burns and Kim (Sam) Garzone; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Zachary and Madelynn Schadow, Brittany and Adam Hills, Billy Siddons, Ashley and Alyssa Connor; step-great-grandchildren, Rachel Garzone and Alyssa and Jessica Rashford; and four great-great-grandchildren. A memorial mass in celebration of Betty's life will be held Thursday, October 20th at 9 a.m. at St. Kateri Tekawitha, 2216 Rosa Rd., Schenectady. Donations in Betty's memory can be made to Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205. A special thank you to the staff at Erie Crossing, Glendale Home for their kind and loving care.
