Beauchamp Evans BroganKnoxville, TNBeauchamp "Beach" E. Brogan passed away peacefully Sunday in Knoxville, TN. He was surrounded by family at his passing. Beach lived a full 87 years. He was born on July 22, 1929 in Harlan Kentucky, child of James Howard and Mary Evans Brogan. Raised in Middlesboro, KY, Beach was the son of a coal miner. Determined to make a better life, Beach joined the Navy, where he served for four years. As the twelfth of fifteen children, he was the first to attend and graduate college. As a University of Tennessee graduate, he then received his law degree from the University of Kentucky. After serving as the Head Litigator for TVA, Beach came to the University of Tennessee as General Counsel and Secretary to the Board of Trustees. He served in this position from 1975-1999, when he retired at the age of 70. One of his career highlights was arguing and winning a case before the Supreme Court of The United States of America. Through his time at UT he became an avid Tennessee sports fan, and was rarely seen without wearing his "big orange". All that knew Beach loved him for his positive outlook, and he was always the life of the party. He was greatly respected by all, and everyone that knew him were impacted by his generous life.
