Ben 'Boyd' Lay, age 90, of Caryville, passed away Thursday, April 14 at LaFollette Court Assisted Living. He was born on March 6, 1926 to the late Follie and Jessie Sellers Lay. He was a loving Dad, Papaw and Pa.Boyd was a member and deacon of Ridgeview Baptist Church, Coal Creek Lodge F&AM #492. He was also a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II. He retired from TVA. Boyd's family and church were his life.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by wife of 51 years, Vera Pauline Silcox Lay; grandson, Kevin Lay; brothers, James and Paul Lay; sisters, Helen Petrey; Rosa Lee Blankenship and Juanita Davis.He is survived by sons, Orgel Lay and wife, Carolyn; Eldon Lay and wife, Barbara; daughter, Regina Worthington and husband, Ron; grandchildren, Keith Lay and wife, Beverly; Travis Worthington; Amanda Daniels; Shannon Parrott and Tausha Lay; great grandchildren, Tanner and Conner Lay; Adrienne and Autumn Daniels. Several nieces and nephews and friends to mourn his passing.The family would like to extend their warmest thanks to the staff at LaFollette Court for the loving care they gave him. Special thanks to Tennova Hospice nurse, Lisa Leach for making his last days comfortable.Services were held April 17 at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home Chapel in Rocky Top with the Rev. David Walker officiating. Interment was in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rocky Top. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Campbell County Honor Guard at c/o Don Chadwick, 205 School Road, Jacksboro, Tenn., 37757.Holley-Gamble Funeral Home of Rocky Top was in charge of arrangements.
