Benard Pollock, beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, danced his way through life with a skip in his step and a twinkle in his eye. Born on April 26, 1950, in the vibrant city of Bridgeport, Connecticut, he brought joy to all those who had the good fortune of knowing him.
As a young lad, Benard's mischievous nature was already apparent. He had a gift for spreading laughter and befriending everyone he met. If there was a prank to be played or a smile to be shared, you could count on Benard's mischievous grin to light up the room.
In his teenage years, Benard discovered his passion for music. He could be found strumming his guitar on the porch, serenading the neighborhood with catchy tunes. His infectious melodies would leave listeners tapping their feet and humming along for days.
After finding love at first sight, Benard married his high school sweetheart, Mary, in 1970. Their love story was one filled with laughter, love, and endless adventures. From exploring their own backyard to embarking on grand road trips, their companionship was as strong as their shared sense of humor.
The heart of Benard's world was his family. As a caring father to his two children, Jessica and Ethan, Benard poured love into their lives, constantly reminding them to never take themselves too seriously. He would instigate water fights, spontaneous dance parties, and hilarious family movie nights that would have everyone in stitches.
Known as "Gramps" to his five grandchildren, Benard embraced his role with an unrivaled zest for life. He would spend hours building intricate sandcastles on the beach, teaching them how to do the perfect belly flop in the pool, and telling them whimsical bedtime stories that transported their young minds to far-off lands.
Outside his family, Benard was infamous for his love of practical jokes and never missed an opportunity to brighten someone's day. Whether it was leaving whoopee cushions on unsuspecting friends' chairs or dressing up as a garden gnome and surprising neighbors, Benard was always ready to provide a laugh.
On September 10, 2023, Benard bid us farewell, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and joy. His spirit lives on in the hearts of all those he touched. Let us remember him not with tears, but with smiles that mirror the one that never left his face.
Rest in peace, dear Benard. May your pranks continue to bring laughter to the heavens above.
