Benjamin W. Jones, affectionately known as “Frog” was born on August 30, 1956 in Westmoreland County, Virginia to the late Lucy Campbell Jones. He spent his younger years in the loving home of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Wilson in Sandy Point,Virginia.
Benjamin was baptized at an early age at Zion Baptist Church in Kinsale, Virginia. He attended Westmoreland County public schools, graduating from Washington & Lee High School in 1975. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.
He was employed by Washington Gas in DC, Northern Pipeline Construction Company in Northern Virginia and Carry-On Trailers Corporation in Callao, Virginia. For the past several years, he took pride in providing lawn care services, especially for his beloved Drum Bay Community in Hague, Virginia.
Benjamin was a die hard Washington Commander’s fan. He loved fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was also a “grill master”, and no one could touch him when it came to frying the fish.
Benjamin passed away suddenly on the morning of November 30, 2023 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings: Harvey Jones, Sr. and Lucille Wilson.
Benjamin leaves to cherish his memory: one daughter: Felicia Weldon of Fredericksburg, VA; one son: Benjamin “Benji” Smith of Bowling Green, VA; four grandchildren: Shaunice Weldon, Keith Weldon-Drummond (Jasmine), Akeyla Weldon and Shaquia Weldon; nine great-grandchildren: Micah-Elias, Natalie, Zsueli, Malayah, Lance, Amirese, Aziel, Nylo and Kahlia; three sisters: Inez Lovett, Kathern Tabron (Bernard), and Elizabeth Jones; two brothers: Kenneth Jones (Keesha), and Jerome Jones; one aunt: Bertha Walton; a special nephew: Dennis Hall; special friends: Pastor Norman and Laura Johnson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Benjamin will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
