Benjamin Gallegos, 87, a lifetime resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Monday, Dec. 14, 2015 in Las Vegas.He was born on Dec. 23, 1926 to Benjamin Gallegos and Mela Padilla Gallegos in Las Vegas.He worked at the West Las Vegas Schools for 37 years where he started as an elementary school teacher moving up to superintendent he retired in 1989. Benjamin served in the United States Army.A Catholic, he was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Mela Gallegos; brothers. Arthur Gallegos, Tony Gallegos, Juan Gallegos and Gilbert Gallegos and sister, Marie Gallegos.He is survived by his wife, Grace Gallegos of the family home in Las Vegas; sons, Ben Gallegos; Carl Gallegos and girlfriend, Betty, Annette Ludi and husband, Paul, Howard Gallegos and girlfriend, Gemma Rael, all of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Carlos Lee and Hunter; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. on Friday at Immaculate Conception Church with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant. Interment will follow at Santo Niño Cemetery in Los Alamitos with the following serving as casket bearers: Steven Martinez, Eric Baca, Pat Trujillo, Zack Romero, Carlos Gallegos and Ralph Archuleta.
