TUSCALOOSA - Bennie Joe Waldrop, age 70 of Tuscaloosa, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa after a short illness of cancer. Mr. Waldrop was born on December 15, 1945 a son of Biddie Lou and Norman Gay Waldrop of Vernon. He attended Lamar County High School. He served in the United States Navy. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama and was employed at Alabama Electric Cooperative in Leroy as an Engineer. Bennie was passionate about his family and flying. He was a member of Alberta Baptist Church in Alberta City.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Wallace Waldrop.Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Dolores Markham Waldrop of Northport; son, Brent Waldrop (Delisha) of Tuscaloosa; daughter, Patty Wilson (Ken) of Erie, CO; six grandchildren, Elizabeth, Michael and Daniel Waldrop, Brenden, Savannah and Nathan Wilson; two sisters, Maelene Collins of Winfield and Mary Vail of Vernon; one brother, Ray Waldrop of Vernon; nieces, nephews and other relatives.Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. from the McGraw Memorial Chapel of Miles Funeral Home. Keith Pugh will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Guin. Visitation will be Friday evening from 4 – 6 p.m. at Circlewood Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, Ala. and also on Saturday from 10 – 11 AM at the funeral home. Miles Funeral Home of Winfield directing.
