Bennie Offutt was born on November 14, 1935 to the union of Bennie and Cosey Mae Offutt in Mound Bayou Mississippi. Bennie attended elementary school there, and later moved to Chicago, IL. where he attended Phillips High School. He soon met the love of his life, Vivian Offutt, and they gave birth to Evelyn, Julius, and Kermit. Bennie got a position at Acme Marble as a master marble mason and was a faithful employee for over 50 years. Bennie, affectionally known as Jack, after the early twenties actor Jack Bennie, loved joking and hanging out with friends. Everyone remembers, a lighthearted funny Jack who loved his friends and family. Jack loved his "Little ole woman", so much that after 21 years and a life altertering break up and destined reunion came their love child, Annie Laura in the fall of 1977. He was an honorary member of the Church of God, where he served his wife and church by commuting her up and down the highways to all of the sisters churches. He later became even more devot by driving his wife to bible study, Sunday school, and Sunday morning worship service. Not to mention any and every other scheduled church event, neighborhood tasks, and washing the cars of his wife's customers "and" mowing their lawns. Jack never could sit still, so he also took on part time employment for Ford Motor company.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his son Julius Offutt, his brothers Kermit "Mickey", Herman, Henry, and David Offutt. His grandsons Nathaniel "Nay-Nay" Smith and Eddie "Boobie" Offutt. He also leaves in life his daughters Evelyn (Richard) Wester, Annie (Jeff) Jones, Pam Offutt and Children, his son Kermit Offutt.
