Bennie Ruth Black, 65, was called home to be with the Lord on November 24, 2016. Bennie was born on November 30, 1950, in Amory, MS, to the late Bennie Alsmond and Letha Mae Wiggins.Bennie graduated from Amory High School and was a member of Power House #1 Carter's Chapel Faith Temple of Amory. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. James U. M. Church. In 1955, Bennie and her family joined Carter's Chapel where she served on the Usher Board, Kitchen Committee, and Missionary Ministry. She dedicated the early part of her life by working in the medical field for over a decade. She was employed by Gilmore Memorial, The Nursing Home of Columbus, Georgia and Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle of Columbus, MS.Bennie enjoyed fishing, playing cards with family and friends and loved to cook, but most of all she loved the Lord, her family, and friends.A Homegoing Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2016, at Carter's Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Elder James O. Howell officiating. Burial will follow in the United Memorial Cemetery in Amory, MS. Darden & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.Visitation will be today at the Susie L. Darden Memorial Chapel from 3 to 5:00 p.m. and family hour from 5 to 6:00 p.m.Bennie is survived by her husband, Andrew Black of Columbus, MS; four children, Marco Black of Sulligent, AL, Terry (Jasmeen) Black of Mathiston, MS, Andrew Black, Jr. of Columbus, MS, Alexander (Brittany) Black of Columbus, MS; two sisters, Irene (Joe) Gunn of Wren, MS, Martha (Pete) Eckford of Amory, MS; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.In Lieu of Flowers, Donations may be made in her memory to Carter's Chapel Faith Temple 104- L-Avenue, Amory, MS. 38821
