Bernadette Malespina (nee Brady)Bernadette Malespina (nee Brady) passed away peacefully on October 7, 2017 at the age of 91. The only child of James and Anna Brady, she was born on December 23, 1925 and raised in Bronx, NY. She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, John Joseph Malespina to whom she was married for 34 years until his passing in 1981. Bernadette raised her family in Bergenfield, NJ and she worked for many years as the bookkeeper for St. John the Evangelist Church, where she and her family were parishioners. Later on in life, she moved to Ramsey and then Hamburg, NJ where she was a member of the Rosary Society at St. Jude the Apostle Church. Bernadette was devoted to her family and she is survived by her seven children: Marianne (Bill) Strasser of Upper Saddle River; Bernadette Cooney of Long Valley; Peggy (Jim) Doyle of Hillsdale; John (Nance) Malespina of Park Ridge; Bob (Trish) Malespina of Oak Ridge; Teri Foard of Lambertville; and Patti (John) Allyn of Wantage. She was cherished by her seventeen grandchildren: Michael (Jen), Gregg, Christopher (Kristin), and Daniel Strasser; Jim and Jeff Cooney; Jim and Michael Doyle; John and Jen Malespina; Marisa, Katie and Mike Malespina; Bill Foard; and John, Bob and Emily Allyn. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Brynn and Brody Cooney: Maxx Strasser and Olivia Strasser. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 4-8 PM at the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey, NJ. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 10 AM at Church of the Presentation, 271 West Saddle River Road, Upper Saddle River, NJ. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Tenafly, NJ. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the wonderful and loving doctors, nurses and aides at the Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff who so tirelessly cared for our mom in the last years of her life.
