For many years she provided compassionate care for individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It was here that Bernadine truly thrived; bringing comfort not only through physical care but also through genuine connection—a testament to how deeply she cared about others’ well-being. Her warm smile could light up even the darkest days while her soft laughter was contagious and would echo throughout gatherings large or small alike—it will be sorely missed by all fortunate enough to have known this extraordinary woman.

She also proceeds her late son Keith Lewis; his memory was forever etched in her heart and of those who knew him.

Bernadine's family extended beyond her immediate children; she was blessed with five grandchildren—Brian Lewis, Mecca Collins, Xavier Whetzel, Vegas Whetzel, and Brylee Whetzel—who brought immense joy to her life. Each visit from them lit up her face with pure joy. She also leaves 4 great-grandchildren and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
