CZERNIAKOWSKIBernard Benny Bernard Anthony Benny Czerniakowski, age 74, passed away peacefully at Ebeid Hospice Residence on Saturday, December 16, 2016. Benny was born on October 28, 1942 to Felix Phil and Mary (Landowski) Czerniakowski in Toledo. He attended St. Stanislaus Grade School and graduated from Macomber Vocational High School in 1960. Having a passion for sports, he enjoyed golfing, playing softball, darts and bowling. He married the love of his life, Joanne (Heiden) on April 19, 1975. Benny was warehouse manager for the Lion Store. In 1993, Joanne's job took them to Charlotte, NC, where Benny loved his new job working at the Carolina Panthers Stadium. After retiring in 2000 and moving back to Toledo to be close to his family, he was a courier for ProMedica. A Veteran of the U.S. Army, Benny was a member of the CWV Logsdson Walla Post 639. He was a parishioner of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church and a member of the St. Hyacinth Seniors. Whether traveling with family and friends, or at home playing cards with them, Benny enjoyed his life. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.Left to cherish Benny's memory are his wife, Joanne; son, Joel (Dawn) Liske; grandchildren, Nicholas (Kelsey) Liske, Emily Liske (Justin Coleman), Joel Liske II (Mindy Farmer), Chelsea (Tim) Esper, and Shelby Szych; great-grandchildren, Cayden Szych and Peyton Liske; brother, Florian Red Czerniakowski; sister, Karen (John) Keller; brother-in-law, Wilfred John (Sharrie) Heiden; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Lucille Durczynski.Visitation will be Monday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., where members of CWV Post 639 will lead a rosary at 6:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass for Benny will be Tuesday, December 20 in St. Hyacinth Church. Those attending the funeral are invited to go directly to the church where Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. The Lucas County Burial Corps will conclude with Military Honors in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.
