Scharenbroch, Bernice A.Bernice A. Scharenbroch, age 93, School Hill, died Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Caring Hands Assisted Living, New Holstein. Bernice was born on July 21, 1923 to Frank and Amanda (Rabe) Karstaedt. On May 15, 1943 she married the late Herbert Scharenbroch at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in School Hill. They farmed in the town of Meeme from 1943 - 1976 and Bernice also worked at Brost Food Market in School Hill for 13 years. In addition Bernice and Herb started a greenhouse at their home in School Hill where they raised and sold bedding plants. They also sold produce at the farmer's market in Manitowoc for 25 years.In addition to farming, working at Brost and gardening, Bernice enjoyed many hobbies. She enjoyed attending horse shows with her family and also sewed many show outfits for her daughters. Crocheting was another passion of Bernice's and she made many afghans and bedspreads throughout her life. However, what Bernice enjoyed most of all was playing her button box accordion.Survivors include two daughters: Scharleen (John) Schmahl, New Holstein and Sandy (Chuck) Thiel, Kiel; three grandchildren: Timothy and Trish Schmahl, Kimberly and Chris Hager, Valerie and Ian Dumbleton; six great-grandchildren: Addison and Carter Schmahl, Landon and Braylon Hager and Remi and Reggie Dumbleton. Bernice is further survived by her brothers and sisters: Henrietta Marchiando, Roger (Caroline) Karstaedt, Agnes (Vernon) Vogel, Julianne Hickmann, Virginia (Norbert) Herbst, MarJean (Glenroy) Schmitz, Larry Karstaedt, sisters and brothers-in-law: Pat Karstaedt, Delores Karstaedt, Victor Schanke and in-laws: Collette Scharenbroch, Francis Scharenbroch, Agnes Scharenbroch, Simon Scharenbroch, Violette Scharenbroch, Anthony Scharenbroch, Ray (Caroline) Scharenbroch, Bernice (Eugene) Schnell, Betty Mae Owens, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, brothers and sisters: Elmer (Verona) Karstaedt, Wilbert Karstaedt, Carolyn (William) Zimmermann, Ralph Karstaedt, Alyce Schanke, brothers-in-law: Seraphino Marchiando and Ralph Hickmann and in-laws: Bernard Scharenbroch, Dorothy and Bernard Schad, Ruth Scharenbroch, Al Scharenbroch, Betty Scharenbroch, William Scharenbroch and Terry Owens.Funeral Services for Bernice will be held at 12:00PM (Noon) on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill.
