Bernice was born December 15, 1943 to the late Charles Dixon and Thelma Roberson, in Miami Florida. She passed away June 16, 2021 after a lengthy illness. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her sister Nancy Roberson, and granddaughter Asha Seegars.
Bernice grew up in the Bronx, New York City and graduated from Jane Adams High School. Soon after graduation she moved to Richmond County, Georgia and married Lindsay Fielding. With this union came 3 blessings from Jehovah. Hasan, Tuere and Shakir. She loved children and later adopted two girls, Nancy and Janice whom she loved the same as her other three.
She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1969 after she had moved back to New York City, made a careful study of the Bible and made a sincere vow to serve Jehovah for the rest of her life. There she attended the Highbridge Congregation in the Bronx and shared many happy memories of her experiences with the brothers and sisters there with many of you here today.
With her growing family, she longed for the peace and quiet in the country and in 1997 was able to move back to Hephzibah, Georgia. She attended the West Hephzibah, GA congregation. Because of a debilitating illness, it became necessary for her son to bring her to live with him in Delaware.
After regaining a measure of health, she came back to Hephzibah, attending the East Hephzibah congregation. Declining health resurfaced and her daughter, who attended a different congregation in Richmond County was able to move in with her in her Hephzibah home giving much needed help.
Bernice expressed to others how thankful she was to have even the smallest share in expressing her faith in the ministry and attending meetings again, seeing new faces from her faith in the ministry and attending meetings again, seeing new faces from her daughter's congregation over Zoom.
Bernice fulfilled her vow, dying faithful to Jehovah and his Word.
