Bernice E. "Bunny" Helgesen1926 - 2016Bernice "Bunny" F. Helgesen, 89, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully, Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at Aurora Hospital.She was born on Dec. 4, 1926, to the late John and Agnes (Schlosser) Schroeder in Kenosha. She was educated in the schools of Kenosha and graduated from Kenosha High School.On April 19, 1947, she married Alvin C. Helgesen at St. George Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on May 23, 2011.Bunny was a homemaker and worked at Phillips Brothers as a bookkeeper for 20 years. Bunny was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Bunny had a lifelong love of singing and dancing and as a teenager performed with the USO. As a young wife and mother she was a Brownie and Girl Scout Troop Leader and enjoyed making costumes for her daughters dance recitals. Bunny was a member of the Women of the Moose #156, enjoyed playing bingo, going on casino trips and going up north.Bunny is survived by her loving daughters, Audrey Helgesen of Wadsworth, Barbara "Bobbie" Helgesen of Kenosha; grandchildren, Heather Bodoh-Bliss, Shane Bodoh; great grandchildren, Zachariah Bliss, Tyler Bliss, Dakota Bliss; and her sister Dorothy Bruns of Townsend, Wis.A Mass of Christian Burial for Bunny will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church (corner of 39th Ave. and 73rd St.). Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
