Bernice Newberry, 88, of Huber Heights, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Miami Valley Hospital.

Born July 6, 1930, in Louisa, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late William and Lydia Crabtree.

Bernice graduated from Plattsburg High School (1948) before obtaining her nursing degree from the City Hospital School of Nursing (1951). She then served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War. She later graduated from The Ohio State University as a Nurse Anesthetist. She worked at many local hospitals including Miami Valley, Good Samaritan, and Kettering before retiring from Saint Elizabeth Hospital.he was a lifetime member the VFW Post 3283, the AMVETS Post 464, the American Legion Post 200, and Sulphur Grove United Methodist Church.

She was pre-deceased by her brothers Richard and Harold Crabtree; sister Phoebe Bennett; and son Michael Newberry.

Survived by her husband, Arlie Newberry; brother, Bobby (Juanita) Crabtree; children, Linda Neidlinger, Eddie (Terri) Crabtree, Chuck (Maryann) Bradley, Freda Lilly, Danny (Carolyn) Newberry, and Jo Anne Wells; 18 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Bernice will be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
