Bernice Sieffert NaquinNovember 6, 1927 – May 31, 2016Bernice Sieffert Naquin passed away at the age of 88 on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at 12:31 p.m. at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington. Bernice was born on November 6, 1927 in Aliquippa, PA, one of four children born to the late Clement Marcellus Sieffert and the late Hildegard "Hilda" Marie Deering Sieffert. In her early years Bernice enjoyed her time working in the steel mill in Pittsburgh. A longtime resident of Bayou Vista, many will remember Mrs. Bernice from Wal-Mart in Bayou Vista, where she worked for nearly 30 years until her retirement. She was a longtime active member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista where she taught catechism and was a founding member of the Ladies Altar Society. Some of her favorite pastimes were arts and crafts, traveling, and working in her yard, but her true passion and joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.Survivors include her children, Theresa "Terri" N. Broussard and her husband Paul of Mandeville, Joyce N. Brady and her husband Tim of Houma, Diane "Boo" L. Naquin of Stoneham, MA, and Harry "Buster" J. Naquin Jr. and his wife Vanessa of Houma; nine grandchildren, Rennan, Renee, Robin, and Ross Broussard, Patrick and Trent Brady, Caroline Brady Bozant, and Devin and Connor Naquin; one great grandson, Bennett Broussard; one brother, Richard Clement Sieffert of Old Saybrook, CT; and numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry J. Naquin Sr.; one brother, Robert Jerome Sieffert; one sister, Marian Diewald; and one great grandson, André Gabriel Broussard.A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, June 6, 2016, at St. Bernadette Church Hall in Bayou Vista from 9:00 a.m. until time of dismissal, with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 10:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery. Father Bill Rogalla will be the Celebrant for the Mass and conduct the services. Serving as pallbearers will be her six grandsons, Rennan and Ross Broussard, Patrick and Trent Brady, and Devin and Connor Naquin.
