KINSTON - Bernice Sylvia Samuels, 70, of Kinston North Carolina, passed away in Phoenix Arizona on September 6, 2012. She was born on January 12, 1942, in Norfolk Virginia. She is survived by her brother, William Cheeks and wife Mary Cheeks; her two nephews, Kevin and Christopher; and her Aunt Willie Mae Williams. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Marine PVT Elsie Samuels who was killed in the Vietnam conflict. She will be remembered and missed by friends and family for her sweet and loving ways. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 29 at Burning Bush Church, 1876 John Mewborne Road, Kinston NC. Arrangements are by Shadow Mountain Mortuary.
