Bertel Waller Lewis of Jefferson died on Monday, Dec. 8, 2014 at Margate Health and Rehab Center. She was 94.

Mrs. Lewis was born on Sept. 25, 1920 in Barren County, Ky. to William F. and Ova Boyd Waller. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis Leonard "Jack" Lewis; two brothers, Byrum Waller and Harold Waller; and a sister, Bernie Wilson. She was a devoted wife and mother.

Mrs. Lewis is survived by a son, Lynn (Janet) Lewis of Whitsett; daughter, Susan Starnes of Cumming, Ga; daughter, Jill Lewis of Portsmouth, Va.; son, David (Tina) Lewis of Sanford; grandson, Tyler Starnes of Cumming, Ga.; grandson, Matthew Lewis of Sanford; granddaughter, Katie Lewis of Sanford; granddaughter, Olivia Hernandez of Mobile, Ala.; great-grandson, Gavin Hernandez of Cumming, Ga.; great-granddaughter, Angelina Meza of San Antonio, Texas; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014 at 2:00 at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Lloyd Day.

The family wishes to extend their greatest gratitude to the nurses and staff at Margate Health and Rehab Center for all of their care and support of Bertel.
