Betsy Helen Hengl died peacefully at her home in Yuma, Arizona, on November 5, 2016, at the age of 94. She was born on June 13, 1922, in Sidney, Nebraska.A homemaker, Betsy married her childhood sweetheart, Virgil, during World War II, and together they moved to Yuma in 1960. Betsy was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother who instilled in her family the important values of life. Everyone was welcome in her home, and many happy gatherings were held there. She was a craftswoman and spent many happy hours crafting with her daughter and granddaughters. Betsy was a fantastic cook and her taco nights were legendary. At Christmas everyone looked forward to tasting her "green" cookies and fruit cakes. She was dedicated to her church and played the piano, organ and bells for just about every service for many years.Betsy Hengl was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil E. Hengl, son David F. Hengl, father Chris Hansen, mother Edith Hansen, brother Chester Hansen and sister Dorothy Helm. She is survived by her sons Harry (Maureen) and Chris Hengl, her daughter Annette Hengl, nine grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.The Hengl family would like to extend our thanks to Hospice of Yuma for the loving care given to Betsy during the final days of her life. They are also very appreciative of Betsy's three loving caregivers who spent so much time with her during her last few years.A celebration of her life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3030 South 8th Avenue, Yuma, Arizona, 85364, on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at 11:00 am. A private family graveside service will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Yuma or the Trinity United Methodist Church Outreach Ministry.
