Bette PetersonJewellBette Marie Peterson, 87, of Jewell died December 25, 2016 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 pm at Heartland Baptist Church in Ames. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 at Soderstrum-Reimers Funeral Home in Jewell.Bette was born on April 16, 1929 in Menlo, Iowa to John and Grace (Clark) Norgard. She married George B. Raines in 1952. He died in 1964. Bette married Sterling Peterson on July 22, 1978. She was an active member of Heartland Baptist Church and started the Des Moines Chapter on Parents Without Partners.Bette is survived by her husband, Sterling Peterson of Jewell; three daughters, Vicki (Robert) McAdoo of Cache, OK, Debra (Kasey) Wadding of Waverly, IA and Georgia (Randy) Traviss of Urbandale; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, George Raines and her brother, Andrew Norgard.
