Betty Lue Wilson was a daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend. She left this world and entered eternal rest on January 9th, 2022, at the age of 79.
She was born to the late Lillie-Bell Kelley (Strozier) and Gilbert Wilson, on May 15th, 1942, in Micanopy, Florida. She lived in Lyons, Geneva, Wolcott, Williamson, and then ultimately settled in Ontario, NY.
With a 9thgrade education, Betty accomplished a lot. She had two restaurants and a hat and wig apparel shop in Geneva, NY. She also was an owner of one restaurant in Lyons, NY, and a small beauty supply store in the same town. She owned an apartment building as well. You would have thought that would have been enough for someone with a 9th grade education, but it wasn’t. Betty was a very charitable person. She was the founder of the 2+1 Club, a foundation that sponsored her annual hat shows which all the proceeds went to the MLK foundation for black youth attending college.
She was involved in giving charitable contributions to various area churches. Her favorite was Easter eggs for the Easter basket charity for the local children in the community. Anyone that was around her that needed a helping hand, she would turn over rocks to make sure your needs are being met. Her favorite hobby was shopping at thrift shops.
She was preceded in death by her son Melvin Fletcher Jr. and daughter Annette Miller, siblings Jonny B Scott (brother) and Marie Randolph (sister). She leaves to cherish her memory, her children Therma J Holmes, Linda Wilson, Danny Joe Miller, L Dawnetha Crawford (Jeffery), Cindy Lou Fletcher, Tina Walker (Ronnie), Miranda Shorter, and Lee Shorter Jr. She also leaves behind nieces and a nephew, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
