Betty Cavner passed away October 24 2016, after fighting an aggressive kidney cancer. She was born on July 23, 1944, in Monroe, WA to Leona and Stuart Trombley. Betty was a touchstone of a large and loving family, so upon losing her husband, Leland in 2015 after 46 years of marriage, she knew her family was there for her just as she was always there for them. Betty and Leland built and operated a rustic bed and breakfast in the tiny town of Warren, ID where for 13 years they were gracious hosts to countless visitors to the Idaho backcountry. She enjoyed crafts, making beautiful quilts and cards, gardening and, above all else, spending time with family and friends. Betty was a loving stepmother to Randy Cavner, and though many miles often separated them, she remained close to Randy and his family. Betty is survived by Randy, his wife, Shannon and their children, Grason and Kate of Gardner, Kansas; her brother, Tom Trombley (Shirley) and family of Monroe, WA; her sister, Cathy McCain (Bill) and family of Wasilla, AK, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of life will be held at the Monroe Senior Center on November 5, 2016, at 10 a.m. Thanks to the staff and doctors of Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and UW Medical Center who provided Betty with excellent care. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Betty Cavner may be sent to SCCA, P.O. Box 19023, Seattle, WA 98109-1023 or made by calling 877-308-3117.
