Mrs. Betty Weaver Darnell of West Jefferson, died on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at the Village of Wilkes Skilled Care in North Wilkesboro, NC. She was 79.

Mrs. Darnell was born on July 6, 1934, in Ashe County to Joe and Myrtle Farmer Weaver.

Mrs. Darnell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rev. Jones Dent Darnell; three brothers, Ralph, Ernie and Junior Weaver.

Mrs. Darnell enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. For the last 10 years she worked at Shatley Spring Restaurant.

Mrs. Darnell is survived by her daughter, Janet Farmer and husband Dean of Millers Creek; three grandchildren, Amanda Grose and husband Shane of Millers Creek, Jonathan Farmer and wife Joni of Taylorsville, Michael Dillard and wife Shana of West Jefferson; five great-grandchildren, Braxton Grose, Payton Grose, Jasmine Caudill, Jaela Farmer and Hailey Testerman; and several nieces and nephews.

Entombment services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Prayer by Rev. Jim Greer.

The family respectfully requests no flowers please; memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
