Betty Estes Johnson peacefully went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on April 26, 2020. She lived her last days under the care of her daughter, Karen Johnson Fox, at Spring Creek Assisted Living Facility in Boise, Idaho, where she was loved and cared for by many staff members. She loved being pampered by them and always had spunky and funny words to share. Many heartfelt thanks to all caregivers at Spring Creek who made her feel so loved and special.

Betty was born on November 15th, 1928 in Selmer, TN.  She was the youngest of five children and grew up on the family farm.  As a teenager, she moved to Memphis, TN and attended Tech High School.  After graduating, she found her love for sales and people while working at Sears in the catalog sales department.  Betty married C.E. "Johnny" Johnson in Memphis and the two of them had three children together.

Betty was very industrious and was always selling something such as dress samples, furniture, or her days of managing the family's hair salon. Work was always a big part of her life as well as her love of family. Never a hurtful word was uttered to her children, only words of praise and encouragement. Her selflessness and love towards her family was truly unconditional.  Betty's love language was cooking fried chicken and homemade chocolate pies for her family.  Betty also loved to express herself through "ballroom dancing."

Betty is survived by her sister, Joyce Crawford of Memphis, TN, her three children: Karen Johnson Fox of Knoxville,TN, Brian E. Johnson of Knoxville,TN, and Mark C. Johnson of Dallas,TX.  She was known as "Grandmommy" to her seven Grandchildren: Hunter, Austin, Whitney, Caroline, Patrick, Alec, Garrett and three Great Grandchildren: Mabel and two baby girls due in July and August 2020.

The family will hold a private memorial service in celebration of Betty's life.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Samaritan's Purse.
