Betty Jean "BJ" Whitney, 66, of Heart Lake, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2012. BJ was born on November 6, 1945 in Dimock, and is survived by her spouse, Tracy Whitney. She is also survived by her sister Doris Sparks, Guthrie, Okla.; and brothers and sister-in-laws James and Arlene Nichols of Chenango Forks, N.Y., Karl and Sherri Nichols of Berne, N.Y. and Raymond and Katey Nichols of Norwich, N.Y. She is also survived by her son-in-law Keith Lane; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her children, Ricky Whitney and Cheryl Lane (Whitney). BJ worked most of her life in the garment industry finishing her career as a home health care-giver. BJ loved to crochet and knit making prayer shawls for cancer patients, helmet liners for our troops abroad and hats for premature babies. She also made many afghans for family members and friends. BJ's passion was her home and family on Heart Lake. She spent hours flower gardening around her home. BJ was an accomplished sewer and loved arts and crafts activities including doing puzzles with her granddaughter. Calling hours were held on Friday, August 24, 2012 at the Daniel Regan Funeral Home in Montrose. A memorial service was held immediately after calling hours with burial at the Montrose Cemetery. Family and friends were invited to attend a dinner at the Heart Lake Little White Church.
