Betty Jo McNeill LUBBOCK-Betty Jo McNeill passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2016. We will gather for fellowship and remembrance from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life on Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church. A tribute of Betty's life may be found at www.memorialdesigners.net, where you may leave memories and expressions of sympathy for her family. Betty was born on June 6, 1938, to the late Joe and Bonnie (Grosecelose) Liles in Childress, Texas. Betty was a beloved wife for 59 years, mother to three children, grandmother to 12 children, and great-grandmother to four children. Betty had a life full of blessings, as well as challenges, which she faced with such courage and Godly direction. She was a talented artist and had a keen appreciation of the artistic talents of others. Her talents were displayed not only in her watercolor and pastel artwork, but also in her sewing, embroidery, crocheting, and decorating. She encouraged creativity in those around her, especially her children and grandchildren. Betty had such a love for the Lord and her Savior. She selflessly served as a Bible Study Fellowship leader for 11 years. She was a faithful prayer warrior, mentor, and an example of living faith as she walked God's path for her. She spent many hours taking care of all of God's small creatures that visited her backyard gardens. Betty had a deep desire for learning and achievement, which led her to return to college to learn about the Navajo Indian culture and language. She immersed herself fully into the Navajo community in order to acquire a better understanding of the people whose native tongue she was learning. Betty faced many hardships throughout her life, but she met them with such determination and grace. Despite her personal struggles, she always thought of others needs before her own. She had such a strong desire to bring joy to every person she encountered. Betty lived her life to the fullest with friends, family and loved ones surrounding her. Every person whose life she touched has a special memory of something she did for them that made them feel treasured. She was an inspiration and blessing to everyone she met every day of her life. Her beautiful smile will be missed, but she is now home with her Lord spending Christmas in heaven! Betty is survived by her loving husband, Troy McNeill; three children, Jana Rosenbach and husband, David, Terry McNeill and wife, Beth, and Fonda Hamilton and husband, Kirk; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edwin Liles, and John Butch Liles; and a sister, Linda Reese; along with numerous nieces and nephews. We would like to acknowledge and thank First Christian Church for faithfully visiting our mother every week - bringing her flowers and communion. Their dedication of shepherding their flock has been a tremendous blessing. Memorials are suggested to the Texas Tech University Dept. of Speech Language and Hearing Sciences-Aphasia Program, 3601 4th Street, Mail Stop 6073, Lubbock, TX 79430.
