GARRETT — Betty Lou "Tommy Lou" Lewis, age 88, of Garrett passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Mrs. Lewis was born on Dec. 1, 1927, in Reading, Michigan, to Harold "Snip" and Katrina "Sandy" (Baker) Snyder. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1945. She married Charles "Chuck" Lewis on Dec. 25, 1947, in Auburn. He resides in Garrett. Mrs. Lewis worked at the Allen County Children's Home in Fort Wayne for 20 years. She then worked for Your Friends and Neighbors Group Home in Garrett for 21 years, retiring in 2006. She was a longtime member of the First Church of Christ in Garrett. She was active in the church as a youth group leader. She was also a Girl Scout leader and she and her husband were avid snow skiers. Tommy Lou led an Indian dance troop for five years performing all over the country at many different venues. Survivors include her husband, Charles "Chuck" Lewis of Garrett; a daughter, Cindy Lou Lewis of Maineville, Ohio; three grandchildren and their spouses, Jenny Lou Lamb, Brian and Stephanie Bailey and David and Chrissy Bailey; and eight great-grandchildren, Samantha Bailey, Caleb Lamb, Miranda Lou Bailey, Charles Bailey, Noah Bailey, Austin Lamb, Cody Bailey and Taylor Bailey. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, April 18, 2016, at 3 p.m. at First Church of Christ, 213 E. King St. in Garrett. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 18, 2016, from 1-3 p.m. prior to the celebration of life at the church. Brother Bud Owen and Jerry Weller will officiate.
