Galley, Betty Lou Betty Lou Galley, age 90, passed away into the presence of Jesus on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 11:08 AM in her daughter's home in Escondido, California. Betty was born on July 29, 1926 in East St. Louis, Illinois. She attended Nyack College and Simpson Bible Institute where she met her husband, Robert William Galley. They were married on February 12, 1949 in Seattle, WA. Betty served as a pastor's wife (with the C&MA in Simi, CA and in Phoenix and Tempe, AZ), a missionary (with the C&MA to Beoumi and Baouke, Ivory Coast, West Africa and with SIM at ELWA in Liberia, West Africa), a teacher (taught reading, writing, Bible classes, sewing, Pioneer Girls, and nursery school while a missionary in Africa, elementary school in the Arizona State Public Schools), and a Sunday School teacher's trainer. She was a counselor within the Arizona State Public Schools and opened a private counseling practice in her home. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education-Psychology (1970) from Biola College, La Mirada, CA, a Masters of Education from Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ (1978), and a Masters of Counseling from Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ (1987). Betty helped lead, for a short time, the Women's Ministry at Bethany Community Church, Tempe, AZ. Betty is predeceased by her father John William Ames, mother Ruth Cecil Spicer Ames, sisters Medora Ruth Sharpe, Laura Mae Mooney Hackama, brothers George Ames and John William Ames, husband, Robert William Galley. She is survived by her five daughters Ruth Elaine Luukkonen (husband Gary), Kathleen Grace Johnson (husband Brad), Carol Elizabeth Brines (husband Buzz), Patricia Lou Esposito (husband John), and Robin Marie Johnson (husband Keith), 12 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, sister and brother-in-laws, and lots of nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Sun Valley Community Church Chapel Tempe Campus at 6101 S. River Dr. in Tempe, Arizona 85283.
