Betty Lou Michael, 85, passed away at home with family by her side in Desert Hot Springs, California. She was ushered to her eternal home by her Lord and Savior on November 14, 2015. She was born on August 16, 1930 in Aberdeen, Washington to William and Emma Ross. Betty was the second of three children. Her Father, Mother and brothers (Bill & Robert Ross) preceded her in death.Betty attended school in Elma, Washington and graduated from High School there. She and her husband George met while in high school, and were married on February 18th, 1948. In 1951, they moved to Juneau, Alaska. Other than a few years living in California, George and Betty spent most of their married lives in Alaska. Betty was a stay at home mother and homemaker the first several years of their marriage. Ten of their most enjoyable years were when they lived on an island at Chilkat Lake, near Haines, Alaska.Betty worked at Behrends Bank in Juneau for a period of time before going to work as the Notary Clerk for the State of Alaska. After she retired from the State, she became the dispatcher for their air-taxi service, based in Bettles, Alaska. Betty is survived by her spouse George, their 7 children, 16 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren, as well as her aunt Pollyanna.A celebration of life service will be held at the Juneau Church of the Nazarene, 3220 Mendenhall Lp Rd, Juneau, Alaska, on December 19, 2015, at 2:00 pm. A time of fellowship with family and friends will follow the service.
