Betty Lou Powers, 84, Monticello, passed away at 8 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at her residence.She was born on Dec. 5, 1932, in South Bend, to the late Rolland and Elizabeth (Hullinger) Snyder. On Oct. 22, 1949, in Hartford, Ky., she married Jimmie D. Powers and he preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 2015.Betty was primarily a homemaker; however, she had worked at Alloy Rods and worked as a waitress at Bakes Lunch in downtown Monticello. She also operated a seamstress business from her home and made and altered many wedding dresses.She enjoyed cooking and was excellent cook. She also enjoyed crocheting, fishing, and was a fan of Betty Boop.She was a member of the Eagles, AMVETS, and VFW auxiliaries, all of Monticello.She is survived by her six children, Dawn (Roger) McCall, Monticello, Jimmie Powers, Fort Wayne, Gordon (Deb) Powers, Lebanon, Del Rae Hayes, Monticello, Perry (Kim) Powers, Monticello, Dianna (John) Whyde, Indianapolis; siblings, Opal Sutton, Wheatfield, Ralph Snyder, Granville, Ga., Jackie (Joe) Horton, Union City, Tenn., and Pammalee (Rob) Hughes, Cartersville Ga.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and two great-great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by a brother, Rolland "Bud" Snyder; and three great-grandchildren.Visitation will be on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. celebrating Betty's life at Springer-Voorhis- Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Her brother, Rev. Ralph Snyder will officiate services.
