Betty L. Mattox1932-2015Betty L. Mattox, 83 died peacefully Friday, December 18th, 2015 after a long battle with C.O.P.D. in Magnolia, TX. She was born on January 2nd 1932 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Dennis and Minnie Andrews. She grew up in Oklahoma and married Ronald E. Mattox of Little Rock Arkansas. As a young couple Betty and Ronald moved to Pasadena, Texas where they raised two daughters, Brenda and Rhonda Jean. When her daughters were older, Betty returned to college and continued her education at the University of Houston. She later became the manager of CE Federal Credit Union in Houston, Texas where she worked for many years. After retiring she moved to Spring, Texas to be closer to family.In her later years Betty was an active member of the Amegy Bank Star Achievers and also the Spring chapter of AARP. She loved family gatherings and enjoyed lunches and travelling with all of her friends. Her grandchildren and great grand children were the delight of her days, and it always made her happy to share their many activities and accomplishments. She also loved to share their photos with everyone she met.She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, her parents, and her daughter Rhonda Jean Shepard and son in law Rex Shepard along with 7 of her 8 siblings. She is survived by her daughter Brenda and son in law Douglas Dutcher of Spring, Texas; 5 grandchildren: Steven Dutcher and wife Jennifer of Cypress, Texas; Michele Dutcher Gutierrez and husband Miguel Gutierrez of Denver, Colorado; Jennifer Shepard of Brooklyn, New York; Brooke Bangs and husband Shay Bangs of San Antonio, Texas; Kristen Shepard of Dallas, Texas; and 6 great-grandchildren: Rebecca and Mark Dutcher, Melia and Michael Gutierrez, Xavier Rex Shepard-Hicks, and Alaric Bangs. She is also survived by her grand-cat Chopper and grand-dog Callie both of whom she adored and cared for often.We would like to thank the staff of Stage Coach Senior Living and Vantage Hospice for their excellent loving care and for making her final days as comfortable and loving as possible.Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Monday December 28th at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 Main St. Tomball, TX. Funeral services will be held Tuesday December 29th at 10AM followed by graveside services at Houston National Cemetery.
