Betty Jean Rood, 70, of Beverly Hills, FL passed away November 2, 2017. She was born on July 11, 1947 in Laconia, NH to Benjamin White and Pauline (Haskell) Panneton. Betty graduated Nashua High School, class of 1965, and attended Hesser College, in Concord, NH.Early in her career, Betty worked at Kenmore Stamp Company, in Milford NH. After settling in Weare, NH she worked briefly at Max Cohen and Sons, in Concord, NH before finding her true calling as a Library Assistant at the Tucker Free Library in Henniker, NH. She was responsible for assisting with the maintenance of the library and its programs for 18 years. She did this admirably. Betty was known by, and knew, virtually every child in town. She shared her love of the library, literacy and books with anyone who would listen. Henniker, its children, and the communities in which they now live and prosper, are much the richer for her efforts.Betty's interests included: genealogy, reading, gardening, antiquing and yard sales. She enjoyed visiting her daughter in NH often, and road trips through FL and along the Atlantic coast. Her favorite restaurants included Cody's, Crackers and Reds. She was a bird lover and enjoyed watching them in her yard, at the feeder and the bird bath. She loved Florida's laid back living in retirement. Her greatest loves were her family and friends. She was also an active member of the following organizations: The Beverly Hills Women's Club, The 5:35 Club, Key Center in Lecanto, and the Brooksville United Methodist Church.Betty was predeceased by her beloved son, Jeffrey P. Johnstone, her younger brother, John A. Panneton, and her younger sister, Melanie F. Panneton. She is survived by her daughter Heather L. Rood of Manchester, NH, her sister Linda A. Gravely of LaConner, WA, sister Paula E. Hogan of Homosassa, FL, brother Paul E. Panneton Jr. of Beverly Hills, FL, and sister Pamela L. Denton of Homosassa, FL, and many nieces and nephews.
