Betty Ruth (BB) Walker HilliardJackson, TNBetty Ruth (BB) Walker Hilliard died peacefully at home September 25, 2017 in Cumming, GA. She was 89 years old. Betty is survived by her two daughters, Kim Bouchillon (Lynn) of Cumming, GA and Trudy Collins (Rick) of Murfreesboro, TN. She is survived by granddaughters, Marissa Bouchillon of Cumming, GA, Brooke Travis (Danny) and Blair Akers (Chuck) all of Murfreesboro, TN and Morgan Bouchillon of Macon, GA. Betty is survived by her great grandchildren, Layne and Nori Akers and James Everett and Collins Travis and soon to be Landry Travis. She is also survived by her sister, Hazel Lifsey, and her sister-in-law, Christine Walker, both of Jackson, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hilliard, on February 9, 2017, her father, Dentis L. Walker, mother, Rubye Harris Walker, and brother, Dentis Walker Jr., all of Jackson, TN. Betty was born on November 9, 1927 in Jackson, Tennessee. She graduated from Jackson High School and Union University. She taught elementary school in Jackson for 34 years. She married Jack Hilliard, the love of her life, in 1948 at First Baptist Church where they faithfully attended and served for over 60 years. Betty and Jack were well loved Sunday School teachers for young married couples. Many members of the class fondly recall Betty's weekly Saturday night phone calls encouraging Sunday morning attendance. Betty and Jack enjoyed putting a stork at the homes of new parents in the church, and they were active in church visitation. Betty enjoyed family, singing, playing bridge, and traveling. They later moved to Murfreesboro, TN to be close to family. Following Jack's death, Betty moved in with family in Cumming, GA. A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, October 7, at First Baptist Church, Jackson, TN at 11:00 with visitation preceding at 10:00.Arrington Funeral Directors, 148 W. University Parkway 668-1111
