FREMONT — Betty Jean Strang, age 83, of Fremont, Indiana, and formerly of Union City, Michigan, passed away in Fremont on Monday, Dec. 21, 2015. Betty was born on Dec. 17, 1932, in Woodburn, Indiana, the daughter of Thomas William and Ella Loretta (Lutz) Clark. They preceded her in death. Betty graduated from Union City High School, and also attended college in Elkhart, Indiana, where she received an associate degree. She worked for 27 years at Lakeview General Hospital, Battle Creek, Michigan, as a registered medical assistant, and also worked for 27 years as a medical transcriptionist for BJS Transcription Service. She married Carlton Eugene Strang on Oct. 29, 1955. He preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 1982. Betty was a member of the Fremont American Legion Cassel Post 257 Auxiliary. Survivors include her companion, Norman Fisher of Fremont, Indiana; daughters, Carla (Kevin) Standley of Conroe, Texas, and Marla Kay Strang and companion Niles of Sturgis, Michigan; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Shirley Flannery of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Linda Tule of Union City, Michigan. She was also preceded in death by her two sons, Shawn and Kevin Strang; two sisters, Mary Ann Ciotta and Loretta Hart; and two brothers, John and Tommy Clark. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015, at Lakeview Cemetery, Quincy, Michigan, with the Rev. Darin Hendrey officiating.
