CAMBRIDGE - Beulah J. Blades passed away, on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at Hospice of St. Mary's, in Callaway, Md.She was born on Dec. 24, 1937, and was the daughter of the late, Phillip and Mazie Corbin Hughes.She graduated from Cambridge High School, class of 1955. On Oct. 27, 1956, she married Charles B. Blades, who passed away on Jan. 27, 2007. Mrs. Blades worked at High Spot, until they closed, and later worked at Chesapeake Treasure, with her sister, Phyllis and brother-in-law, the late Dorsey Shockley. She enjoyed gardening. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Blades is preceded in death, by a son, Phillip Andrew Blades; two brothers, Guy Hughes and Alfred Hughes; and three brothers-in-law, Bobby Hall, Dorsey Shockley, and Howard Bloom. She is survived by a daughter, Julie Blades Howd and husband Don, of Hollywood, a daughter-in-law, Tina Blades, of Cambridge, five grandchildren, Tyler Todd (Jessica), G.J. Dawson (Brianna), Tristan Blades, Shelby Blades and Donald Howd III; three great-grandchildren, Destini, Ian, and Jaxsen; a brother, Sammy Hughes, of Madison; five sisters, Minnie Hall, of Fishing Creek, Lottie Willoughby, of Cambridge, Phyllis Shockley of Fishing Creek, Evelyn Bloom, of East New Market, and Elsie Jones, of Hebron; and numerous nieces; and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Mar. 4, 2017, at 2 p.m., at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A., in Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made, to Thomas Funeral Home, P.A., 700 Locust St., Cambridge, MD. 21613 to help defray funeral cost.
